内容記述 The purpose of this study is to develop scales to measure learners' expectations focusing on their relationship with teachers in foreign language learning, and to examine its reliability and validity. Given the unique anxieties involved in learning a foreign language as opposed to other subjects, understanding the expectations and desires of learners and alleviating their anxieties is important in a language learning environment. In the study, 361 college students were administered a 66-item questionnaire developed with reference to previous research. The results of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis revealed the following four-factor model: (1) interest in learning methods, (2) empirical proficiency of teachers, (3) search for rapport, and (4) independence in learning. To examine reliability and validity, another 412 students completed a questionnaire that included 17 items from the four-factor model and 56 items from three other scales related to this four-factor scale. The results showed that each factor was closely related to the other, and the study provided a better understanding of what learners expect from their teachers.
