内容記述 The Central Education Council calls for universities to secure sufficient learning time in and out of the classroom. The purpose of this student survey was to grasp the students' learning time and its relation to other variables at our institution. About 50 percent of the freshman students in fiscal 2012 (N = 119) participated in the survey. The questionnaire included items on students' learning time and other related variables in a student's life (e.g., time spent sleeping, part-time job, and school club activities). On average, our students spent 2 to 2.5 hours per day for learning out of the classroom. Only about 10 to 20 percent of the students met the criterion of learning time (approximately 4 to 5 hours per day) specified in the Standards for Establishment of Universities. Correlation coefficients between the learning time and other student-life variables were weak in general, indicating that the shortage of the learning time was not due to spending time on other activities.
